Whatever I feel like posting

This is a blog about pretty much whatever I feel like talking about. For example, if I felt like talking about ducks, I would talk about ducks.

Playing Catch with Fruit Part 1: Tiny Granny Smith Apples

Page top
So, if you have decided to start playing catch with the tiny fruits they give out in the school cafeteria, here are some tips. They will be separated into many parts, one for each fruit. Ideally, the fruit should not fall apart too fast, but fall apart, and the game should continue until all the parts are unusable. Monkey in the Middle works well too, and having many people makes it much more fun.

If you are using one of the tiny Granny Smith Apples, remember to try to get a small one. Make sure it has a good round shape, and is not visibly wormy. Aesthetics really do not matter, but people tend to want to drop visibly wormy apples, and that shortens the length of the game considerably. If it falls apart too fast, the game will be over sooner, and you will need to use an actual ball, which does not fall apart. Playing with the broken pieces is half the fun. It is sticky, but surprisingly satisfying, like paste. It is best if the apple is heavy enough at the start such that the wind does not affect it.

To start, throw the apple to someone else. Start out slowly; you don't want to hurt yourself. Then, gradually make the throws harder to catch. Once the apple drops, it might break into pieces. If not, pick it up and continue playing. If it does, pick up one of the pieces and let the other player pick up the other. If there are more players than pieces, pick one up and let the others try to pick one up. Resume the game with multiply pieces. Keep in mind that pieces may become more or less aerodynamic, and that may affect the length. Experimentation is the easiest way to find out how far something will fly. Play until the apple is gone and unusable.

Make sure to play outdoors, else it will make a huge mess. And the squirrels can eat the apple pieces left lying on the ground.

Be careful. People can be injured if hit by flying apples. Be sure not to kill anyone, hurt anyone, or harm in any way, emotionally, psychologically, or proverbially. Now you can't sue me, since I warned you. Do not get hit by cars, or do anything that might get you hurt, otherwise you might get hurt.

What if there are more pieces than players:

I think that if there are more pieces than players you have some people take more than one. It becomes chaotic and sticky. But fun.

I thought of this when :-O I was playing catch with the tiny granny smith apples that they give out in the cafeteria with a person I will call "Fuzzie" to protect his identity from others (you know who I'm talking about). Anyway, it started to break up after we dropped it a few times. We started playing keep away and some other people joined because it looked fun. And it was.
It started getting sticky. But I thought I'd write about it.

Of course!

(For those of you who don't know who M.B. is, it stands for Marlon Brando.)
